How to make the most of a family holiday at Walt Disney World

Want to take a family holiday to America that packs in all the action in one place? Look no further than Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida — home to four magical theme parks, two waterparks and countless opportunities for shopping, entertainment and dining. Here’s what you won’t want to miss:

 Magic Kingdom Park

This is Walt Disney World's flagship park and you’re going to want to spend anywhere from one to five days exploring it from top to bottom.

Here Disney's Classics come to life in six wonderfully enchanted lands and countless attractions, filled with excitement and magic.

Visit the iconic Cinderella Castle, dance with your favourite characters along colourful parades and experience breathtaking fireworks in the evening.

This park has changed and grown over the years, but continues to please all ages.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Explore African savannahs, Asian jungles and Amazonian rainforests in a single day!

This zoological theme park gets you up close and personal with animals you might have only dreamt of seeing: wallabies, barking deer, giant anteaters and hundreds of birds from all over the world.

Highlights include Pandora – The World of Avatar, the Tree of Life, Discovery Island and DinoLand USA

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Love movies and old Hollywood charm? Don’t miss Disney's Hollywood Studios, dedicated to all things film. Check out the newly constructed Toy Story Land and shrink down to the size of your favourite toys. Meet your Star Wars heroes and get ready for a 3D flight through the galaxy or hurtle up and down aboard a haunted elevator-style lift at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

This park may not have as many rides as others, however, this is the place for shows! Take in live stage performances such as Beauty and the Beast, Fantasmic! or Disney Movie Magic.

Travel around the world, into space, underwater and beyond at Epcot. This was Walt Disney's dream for an experimental utopian society and later inspired by the World’s Fair.

Its geodesic dome has become an icon of Disney World, as have the monorail and 11 pavilions – each with their respective attractions and country-specific entertainment, cultural and dining options – set on the waterfront lagoon.

Epcot is undergoing some changes in 2019 to add new attractions (a Marvel coaster and Ratatouille-themed Pixar ride), as well as a mini-city for kids. It is set for substantial completion in 2021.

Disney Water Parks

With some of the world’s tallest and fastest free-falling waterslides in the world, a visit to Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water parks is the perfect way to cool down after a few days at Walt Disney's other theme parks.

The Disney imagineers have somehow managed to transform the simple waterpark concept into rich, immersive stories — with a whole lot of splash thrown in for limitless fun for little kids, cool teens and even the grown-ups.
