British Airways lays on extra flights for South African summer season

British Airways has released its summer schedule, and it’s good news for South Africans: more flights.

The airline will again increase to its Heathrow-Cape Town service to double-daily over the busy Cape Town summer period. It will also reinstate three-weekly Boeing 777 flights to Gatwick, starting in November.

In addition, it will provide a number of extra flights to Heathrow to meet demand over the New Year and Easter peaks.

There’s also some good news for passengers flying out of Gauteng. From October 2017 BA will increase capacity to OR Tambo International when it begins operating a double-daily A380 service, making London/ Johannesburg the only route on the airline’s network with two daily A380s. It will revert to a daily A380 and daily Boeing 747 service in March 2017 after the summer peak.
