Turkish Airlines will begin flying to Rovamieni (Lapland), the official home of Santa Claus, on December 5.
At this magical destination you can meet Santa Claus any day of the year, experience reindeer or husky rides, relax in a Finnish sauna and eat and drink in snow restaurants and ice bars.
The Rovamieni flights will operate from the airline’s new mega airport hub, Istanbul Airport (formerly Istanbul Ataturk Airport).
The first phase of the new airport launched late last year and can already serve 90 million passengers. When the final phase is completed in 2023, it will have the capacity to serve a staggering 200 million passengers.
It will be the world’s largest airport terminal under one roof, boasting some game-changing technology and design. This includes biometric screening and advanced passport control to enable passengers to check in more quickly, while beacon and geo-finding technology provide directions, walking times to the gates and boarding alerts.
