2 countries for the price of 1

Like fine wine and cheese – or a burger and chips – there are some tried and tested combinations that go perfectly together. Like holiday hopping between Australia and New Zealand; Australia and Japan; or Australia and the United States.

These pairings are made possible by Qantas Airways' multi-stop fares,  which allow travellers to see two countries (or up to three Australian cities) for the price of one! *

The City Tour: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane

See three of Australia’s cities on one fare.* Within Australia, the Qantas multi-stop fares include itineraries such as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

You could spend some time in Sydney’s postcard-perfect harbour and beaches, take in a cricket match in Melbourne or look out for a Banksy street art original, and then fly over to Brisbane for lush subtropical gardens, markets and unbeatable weather.

Qantas also offers domestic flights within Australia to Hamilton Island, the jumping off point for the Great Barrier Reef – one of the seven wonders of the natural world.

Oceania Island Hopping: Australia & New Zealand

Qantas’ multi-stop fares also allow passengers to add Australian stops such as Sydney, Auckland & Melbourne to their New Zealand itineraries. It's the ideal chance to finally hike, surf and dive some of the most insane natural landscapes you’ll encounter on this vast planet of ours.

The draw of a New Zealand-Australia nature pairing is its diversity: outback, desert and seemingly-endless beaches juxtaposed with jagged mountains, glaciers and ominous volcanoes.

You’ll find jaw-dropping views at any fitness level, whether you opt for a leisurely Sunday drive or a 32-km hike along the 32-km Thorsborne Trail in Queensland (on the east coast of Hinchinbrook Island, Australia’s largest island national park).

Fly to Auckland on New Zealand’s North Island, meanwhile, and spend a day on the Tongariro Crossing or three or four days looping around the Tongariro Northern Circuit.

Home to Mt Ngauruhoe (aka “Mt Doom” of The Lord of the Rings trilogy), this slice of wilderness combines neon green and blue volcanic lakes with steaming fumaroles and snow-capped peaks.

Aussie meets Hollywood: Australia & Los Angeles

Follow in the footsteps of Aussie A-listers Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Chris Hemsworth by splitting your travel time between the land Down Under and Hollywood’s rolling hills. While LA is better-known for movie enthusiasts, Australia has also played host to many international box office hits.

Movies such as The Matrix, Star Wars, The Great Gatsby, Babe, Mission Impossible 2 and Wolverine all have scenes shot in Oz. So why not take some time to visit the settings of your favourite films in both the USA and Australia on your next trip with Qantas?

G’Day Japan: Australia & Japan

Sip shiraz from Melbourne’s wine regions or have a taste of sake in Tokyo, with Qantas’ Australia-Japan itineraries. The two countries both love their libations and have a thriving beer-drinking culture.

In Japan, order a nama biru (a draught beer), or bin biru if you’re especially thirsty – it’s a half-litre bottle that gets shared among everyone at the table and a great way to wash down all the ramen and sushi you'll be tasting.

In Oz, the craft beer scene is booming – grab some before a “barbie” (or braai, as us Saffas call it). Or if wine is more your thing, join one of the many wine tasting tours in the Yarra Valley – less than an hours’ drive from Melbourne.
